Life Drawing: Señor Hernandez in a Tree. Thursday Night, May 15, 2014
Thursday night. May 15, 2014
I was an hour late to the studio tonight. When I arrived the long pose session had begun. In two hours that followed, I managed to paint a small painting of Paul, our model.
I decided earlier on, to replace Paul’s face with that of a youth. Midway in the thought, I reversed my thinking. In the end, I painted a hybrid of Paul’s face with the mug of Jacques Brel.
Jacques Brel – Ne Me Quitte Pas
Jacques Brel – Mathilde
I had fun playing with colors but alas, the green gave the face a cadeverish hue. Sorry, Paul!
Oh! I noticed since the last I requested it (for chiaroscuro work), Medi installed spot lights on the models. How wonderful! Thanks busy and productive Medi!
Stealing a little time off from my regular life, here was what I created from 8pm-10pm on Thursday night, May 15, 2014.
I considered making Paul into a satyr. In the end due to lack of time, I left him perched, hairlessly on a limb. Click here to view my previous session with Paul.
Today Medi was on vacation and Brianna the painter was hosting or life drawing session. I have only heard of her in passing but never met her, so I was secretly and silently awestruck in that studio with her that night!
