Studies: Giorgio de Chirico’s The Return of Ulysses by Jzin
I have a guttoral reaction to the landscapes of Giorgio de Chirico. I decided to process the enigma of his work by doing a reproduction of “The Return of Ulysses”.
Here was my study in acrylic on canvas, completed on August 5, 1998:
Ulysses told his honey he will be out in a jiff but it took eons and lifetimes. When he finally returned after all those detours, everything changed, or at least his honey may have felt he took a tad long. I was more impatient back then and this was how I really felt when waiting for my beloved.
That was a quick and fun study. – Jzin
